Powder coating in various thicknesses

Powder coating in various thicknesses

Powder coating, also known as powder lacquering, is an electrostatic painting process in which negatively charged powder is sprayed onto a grounded workpiece using compressed air. These powder particles contain a binder, pigment, and additives.

At Tilkin Powder Coatings, we take powder coating to the highest level with certified Qualicoat powders and over 27 years of expertise. Powder coating provides durable protection and a sleek, high-quality finish for metal structures, from fine sheet metal to heavy steel, and from small plates to 3D constructions up to 6 tons. We apply the powder coating in 1, 2, or 3 layers, each cured in our curing oven at approximately 180 degrees Celsius for a flawless finish.

Our curing oven, the largest in the Benelux, can accommodate constructions up to 18 meters long, 3.7 meters wide and high, with a maximum weight of 6 tons. By combining powder coating with blasting and metallizing, we create solutions that excel both aesthetically and functionally in every aspect of craftsmanship.

By spraying the powder, it temporarily adheres to the surface, allowing it to be melted or "cured" in an oven afterward.

Powder coating is widely used on various types of metal, ranging from thin sheet and profile materials to heavy structural steel. We exclusively use high-quality Qualicoat-certified powders.

One, two, or three powder coating layers?

The combination of blasting, metallizing, and powder coating, when executed with the required craftsmanship, ensures optimal protection and a high-end visual finish. The coating process can be completed with one, two, or three layers of powder coating.

We work with six transparent quality levels, each involving a specific treatment. Every quality level comes with a corresponding price, finish, and warranty period. This unique approach makes Tilkin Powder Coatings stand out.

Curing (Moffeling)

We have the LARGEST curing oven in the BENELUX! This allows us to cure constructions with dimensions of up to 18 meters long, 3.6 meters high, and 3.7 meters wide, with a maximum weight of 10 tons.

At Tilkin Powder Coatings, curing is the process of hardening powder coatings in a radiation oven. Thermosetting powder coatings or reactive coatings are achieved by heating the construction along with the powder in the oven at 180°C, triggering a chemical reaction that melts the powder. This process gives the powder coating its durable properties.

What sets us apart?

Tilkin Powder Coatings distinguishes itself through:

  • With our large powder coating cabin, we can coat complex structures such as semi-trailer chassis and large 3D constructions in 1, 2, or 3 different powder coating layers. We also process a wide range of items, including fences, sliding gates, railings, stairs, frames, cabinets, and profiles.
  • The desired color or effect can be selected from over 650 different colors and textures in our color room.
  • Where the powder robot or other coaters stop, our craftsmanship begins!
  • We efficiently handle large quantities, as four operators can apply powder coating simultaneously. Additionally, our curing oven is so large that no production delays occur.
  • We operate almost 24 hours a day, ensuring very short and flexible delivery times within one of our four quality levels.
  • Our extra environmental measures: all electric motors meet the IE3 class. High-efficiency motors are controlled by frequency converters to avoid power peaks and reduce CO₂ emissions.
  • The entire system is managed by our PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), ensuring optimized startup and shutdown, reducing energy consumption by 30%.
  • Due to our strict environmental requirements, we have installed highly efficient filter systems that emit minimal dust.
  • Our custom-developed production software ensures that employees always receive accurate information about the required color code and coating thickness.
  • Specific focus points are highlighted with visual and textual instructions. Each operator is required to check the coating thickness every 600 working minutes.
  • General quality checks are performed daily by our quality manager.

Powder coating is one of the most environmentally friendly treatments available today. Moreover, the finish is of exceptionally high quality and can be assessed in great detail.
